Five new Artificial Intelligence Centres of Excellence have today been announced for the UK in a flagship investment programme. Funded through the Governments’ Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund,  these five centres are to be established in Coventry, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Oxford. They will bring together clinicians, businesses, & academic researchers to develop better diagnoses and treatments for patients using the latest advances in AI digital technology.

2 centres (Oxford and London) will focus their work in radiology whilst Coventry and Leeds will look at pathology. Housed in the Imaging Centre of Excellence at Glasgows’ Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the largest acute hospital in Western Europe, Scotlands’ iCAIRD centre will have a dual focus on both radiology and pathology in healthcare provision.
