Continuing iCAIRDs’ public & patient engagement activities, on the 20th October, Dr Gerald Lip, Director of breast screening for North East Scotland & clinical lead of iCAIRDs’ mammography work, was interviewed about the potential for AI to benefit breast cancer screening for “The Slice” Grampian Hospital Radio programme.  (www.grampianhospitalradio.org).  Dr Lip discussed how the team are working with industry partner Kheiron Medical to look at ways in which AI could be applied to current breast screening practices to help radiologists achieve faster diagnosis & pick up early stage cancers sooner so treatment can be applied earlier.

Dr Lip also talked about the public survey currently being carried out by the team asking Grampian breast screening clinic attendees for their opinions on AI potentially being part of the screening process in the future (see previous news article here)
